From the 16th to 17th century, East Asia was in the middle of a cultural transition with thriving trade and changing social structures as the background. From the viewpoint of art, it was a period of matured figuration and fresh aesthetics. In this exhibition, various aspects of the beauty of East Asia, during those decades filled with diverse techniques and expressions, are introduced through the masterpieces of paintings, calligraphy, craftwork and books.
