This exhibition introduces works by craft artists who set themselves the challenge of exploring new expressions while carrying on the techniques and spirit of earlier generations. These include the dyeing artists YAMADA Mitsugi and YUNOKI Samiro, the dyeing and weaving artist SHIMURA Fukumi, and the lacquerware artist KOYANAGI Tanekuni. In a small display, we also present masks and other works by the sculptor and noh-mask artist IRIE Yoshinori (1896-1975).
