In January 2014, a major special exhibition of ukiyo-e prints was held in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the opening of the museum, which presented some outstanding pieces of significance in the history of ukiyo-e prints. This second exhibition will focus on five beloved ukiyo-e print artists: Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, Hokusai Katsushika, Hiroshige Utagawa, and Kuniyoshi Utagawa. In addition to works held in Japanese collections, several leading nishiki-e (colored woodblock prints) works by these artists from the collections of Western museums, galleries, and personal collections will also be on display.
