Tezuka Osamu (1928 – 1989), who has been honored as “the god of manga,” was a manga artist and an animator who created numerous works with profound messages such as “What is a human being?” Or “What is life?” Various stories and charming characters created by Tezuka are still loved all over the world even 30 years after his death.
In this exhibition, about 300 pieces of original manuscripts selected from over 150,000 copies of Tezuka’s lifelong creations including Astro Boy (Tetsuwan Atom), Phoenix (Hinotori), Black Jack, Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Taitei) and Princess Knight (Ribbon no kishi), are on display along with the films, various other resources and his personal items. Together, all of them help us to understand the whole history of Tezuka’s works and his messages to the reader.
The exhibition is a part of the project of “Tezuka Osamu 90th Anniversary of Birth”(November 4, 2017 – November 2, 2019).
