In the Edo Period, painters—geniuses who broke the mold and dared to create avant-garde and unique expressions—were active all over Japan.
The exhibition will feature a selection of works brimming with the individuality of 35 genius painters from all over Japan, not only those who radiated radical and strong personality and have recently been attracting attention, such as Ito Jakuchu, Nagasawa Rosetsu, Soga Shohaku, and Utagawa Kuniyoshi, but also Ogata Korin, Maruyama Okyo, and Katsushika Hokusai.
