The Treasures of Mitsubishi Collection:
The Mitsubishi 150th Anniversary Exhibition

July 8, 2020 to September 22, 2020

The founder of Mitsubishi, Iwasaki Yatarō and the succeeding leaders of Yanosuke, Hisaya, and Koyata shared a great interest in cultural heritages and their collections are now divided and stored into two museums, Seikado Bunko Art Museum and Toyo Bunko Art Museum.  They interacted with scholars and artists of their time period and acquired a broad perspective in their collecting attitude for the purpose of contributing to the society.  This exhibition presents some 100 precious art and craft works and old scripts owned by the two museums and Mitsubishi Economic Research Institute, including 12 National Treasures and 31 Important Cultural Properties, while following the history of the social contribution through supporting research and development of art and culture by the four generations of the head of Mitsubishi.  This exhibition provides a rare opportunity to appreciate the collections of the both museums at once.
