June 22, 2019 to September 1, 2019

Tomino Yoshiyuki (1941-) is a legendary Japanese anime director. His anime has had a great influence on the Japanese anime scene. The most famous work is “Mobile Suit Gundam”(1979) that has been followed by some sequels. “Space Runaway Ideon”(1980) and “Aura Battler Dunbine”(1983) are also known as his representative works among many anime fans.

This is the first solo show at the museum to retrospect Tomino’s tremendous amount of works of anime direction by exhibiting storyboards, design works with other creators, anime cels and many drawings and scripts used in the process of making anime. We try to focus on what his messages and the influence of his anime are through over 3000 exhibits.
