Yuki Ogura and the Painters of the Japan Art Institute

Ogura Yuki became the first woman to be nominated as a Donin, a top-ranking exhibitor of the Nihon Bijutsuin, and she received the Order of Culture. She made many other brilliant contributions to the field of painting as well, but throughout her life the Nihon Bijutsuin remained at the center of Yuki’s activities the influence she received from the artists of the Inten exhibitions was truly immeasurable.
This exhibition presents the paintings by Ogura Yuki and artists of the Nihon Bijutsuin that the Museum of Modern Art, Shiga, has collected over more than thirty years and brings them together under one roof.
